Cleaning house

We moved to Wesley about a year and a half ago. When we moved we removed a lot of ‘stuff’ from our collection of belongings but also held on to a surprising amount of stuff. In some cases the stuff is not just physical objects but more deep assumptions about our life as well as what we intended to do for the future.

Well things change but we have not really let go of some of the stuff so….I’m cleaning house. I’m junking out some stuff that represents a lot of ‘maybe I will’ things that are leftovers from previous days. For example- I still have all of my stuff from ‘A Joyous Wedding’ from when I was still doing wedding consulting, materials from Oracle teaching days, materials from studies for the diaconate, materials from studying dispute resolution facilitation, well…..you get the idea.

Cleaning out these things is not just a matter of junking out the stuff but it also represents changing what is important to me. Still of import is craft stuff-beading, yarn arts, quilting, needlework…. Things that produce a shareable, giftable, useful product. Intellectual exercise stuff? Nope. Attempt to make money? Nope. Reminders of what I was good at? Nope. One more thing to do? Nope.

One of the hardest things to give up is my deacon studies stuff. I can and will continue my ministry to the elders but as just me. Where HIPA and other privacy issues keep be out I will find a way in knowing that if it is intended that I minister in a particular place or to a particular person it will be made possible.

House cleaning continues!
