Lessons for Horses

I originally wrote this February 11,2014. Somehow it did not post. I wanted to see it post so decided to post it now.

I’m taking a break before my next mount which is at 4:15. It is horse lunch but all is not totally still and quiet.

One of the trainers, a lady I admire very much, is working with one of the Norwegian Fjord horses. She is working with the horse in ‘free’ mode – no halter, no lead rope. She asks and the horse responds. It is a beautiful thing to watch as she develops a relationship with the horse so it does what she asks in this free space.

This relationship is one of those things I miss about my first horse as Secret and I shared this kind of relationship. Still I have horses to be with and that is a very good thing!
