Give thanks!

St. John’s in Kirkland, WA has encouraged folks to really think about the things they are thankful for. I’ve been enjoying the Facebook posts of many friends from there. It got me thinking and a song on the radio this morning, Never wanted nothing more, spurred me to write about what I am most thankful for.
In this context one of the first things that occurs to me is that I am thankful for these friends specifically and all my friends! It is a blessing to have people to love and to be loved.
Watching Jenn struggle this morning I am thankful that my dizziness is comparatively light. I did stumble down the stairs with the dog this morning but am now doing better.
I am thankful for my family! My children are a continuing delight and I am proud of both. It pleases me no end that they have grown into God loving adults and I thank God for them!
Of course I love my husband. He is first and foremost my best friend. It is hard to believe God loves me enough to have put me together with this man. As we say in our family, I got a good one!
It is hard to be thankful for things that did not work out but there are things and although at the time it was difficult I now see God’s plan and am indeed thankful. Certainly there are things were I’m still asking ‘what was that about’ and may continue to wonder but the bottom line is I know God has my best interests at heart and that everything will work out. I am thankful for this kind of love and continual care!
This morning as I sit drinking my coffee, watching the sun rise and writing this I am thankful for life; my life and all that it has brought and will continue to bring.
May you all enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving!
