The week of July 10th Glen and I were at The Good Sam Rally in Redmond, OR. Redmond is just north of Bend. Beautiful location; Mt. Hood to the north, The Sisters to the South West. Most of the week was beautiful too! It rained the evening of the Vince Gill concert so the start was delayed by an hour and fifteen minutes. The following night was Peter Noone and that start was also delayed but not by as much. Otherwise we could not have asked for better weather.
I was a volunteer so Tuesday – Friday I worked registration from 12:30 to 4:30 and Wednesday – Saturday I worked the evening concerts from about 5:00 to “everybody is gone and the grounds have been picked up”. I got very tired especially when “everybody is gone and the ground have been picked up” was late and I was soaked through to the skin! as I was the evening of the Vince Gill concert. The next night I was smarter and had my rain poncho with me! You know? That rain poncho is an REI product that is some 25 years old! Wow!
Glen and I went to some seminars, explored the vendor booths, picked up plenty of information and some new friends too! Friday there was a dog show. Ginger and I played “Musical Chairs” dog style – a water bowl for each dog and the last one to sit and stay when the music stopped was out! Ginger did well enough to earn a purple ribbon and a dog bone!
Sunday the 17th there was a non-denominational service. The fellow who was supposed to be the speaker could not be there for some reason. I found this out on Monday the 11th so offered Glen’s assistance. This was readily accepted so Glen did the devotion/homily. It was well received and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
We left Redmond on Monday the 18th, stopped for the night in Randle, WA then arrived home Tuesday. All in all a delightful trip!
